My favorite travel apps for international travel

Favorite Travel Apps

I remember when I used to travel during college days, I would have to bring along a whole stack of maps & itineraries. ( yes, I know, that sounds ancient!! 😛 ) Nowadays, those are no longer necessary. All you need is a smartphone or tablet and you can have apps that will make your travelling easier and less stressful.

Some of my favorite apps for international travels are:

** TRAVEL APPS **

XE CURRENCY
XE Currency Phone App

This currency converter app is definitely a must-have. I admire those who can convert the local currencies in their head, unfortunately I am not one to be able to do that. 😀 This app takes all the hard work out of my head and make sure that I am not paying too much for a local item.

TRAVEL INTERPRETER
Travel Interpreter Phone App

It is always helpful to be able to communicate some basic phrases in your destination country. This app has all the basic phrases necessary in many different languages.

AGODA
Agoda Phone App

Agoda is my favorite app for booking hotels in Asia. Most of the time the prices are a lot cheaper than other websites.

BOOKING.COM
AppBookingcom

Another good app to book hotels in Asia.

TRIPADVISOR
AppTripAdvisor

If you do not want to end up in a “bad” hotel, it is always good to check hotel reviews before booking.

KAYAK
AppKayak

Kayak is the best place to look for the best price for flights.

TRIPIT
Tripit Travel App

TripIt is good for organising the details of your trip. You can keep all your reservations, flight details & travel plans all in one place

SPENDING TRACKER
AppSpending

One of the worse thing to do on a trip is overspend. Spending Tracker is a good app to keep track of all your expenses & make sure you have enough money to finish your vacation.

FLIGHT VIEW
AppFlightView

I like to use this to check on the status of all my connecting fights. That way I can keep track of delays and deal with them accordingly.

WHATSAPP MESSENGER
AppWhatsApp

Since I don’t have data roaming on my phone and do not plan to include that anytime soon, I switch my phone to airplane mode whenever I am overseas. So I use Whatspp instead of iMessage to send messages to friends & family since it is free over wifi.
